Liverpool vs Tottenham [11.28.2010]

In all honesty, I really thought we had this one in the bag.

Our defenders were able to stop the Spurs from creating goals, and our midfielders were creating chances left and right for our forwards during the first half. Jamie Carragher had a bit of brilliant defending, and my heart was beating with excitement. I could taste the win. If things had gone our way a hundred percent, the first half would have ended at 3-0 for Livepool, courtesy of Skrtel, Maxi and Torres.

But of course, things can’t always be perfect. Anyhow, the first half ended at 1-0 in favor of Liverpool. Skrtel had a brilliant goal, thanks to his quick reflexes.

The second half was much more fast paced, but I honestly thought that we were still defending quite well. Over the succeeding minutes, however, it became apparent that the Spurs were creating chances to score nonstop, and we were have an increasingly difficult time in stopping their advances. Skrtel had an own goal, and the Spurs added another at stoppage time.

This loss was harder to accept than any of the other losses this season. We had a lead, and our midfielders and defenders were doing their job. Pepe Reina made some amazing saves, and our forwards had chances to score. To cap things off, Carra and Ngog were injured. I had no idea what went wrong. Some people say that our defense was horrible, but I beg to disagree. I think we did great, especially during the first half. Our defenders had more of a difficult time on the second half, but they still did well.

Fernando Torres had brilliant touches on the ball today, and it is still evident that he is one of the best in the world. I can’t wait for the day he returns to full form. I just wish he would enjoy playing more. Watching him play like he has to – and not that he wants to – hurts at times, really.

Final Score: 2-1 for the Tottenham Spurs
